WASTED POTENTIAL

YEAR 1 REPORT CARD: Melissa has worked consistently well in story writing, she has a good imagination and she expresses her ideas well. She has a happy personality and has been a delight to teach.

YEAR 10 REPORT CARD: Melissa is obviously a very good student and is still able to comprehend a lesson while chatting or daydreaming. She could improve her conduct in class.

School reports are useless after you turn 21. Mine all mysteriously vanished when I was about 19 and I have to say I've managed to live a pretty normal life so far without them.

No, I think she means that her character flaws have prevented her from realising the potential she once had. Sad but common story there. What intrigues me, though, is that you can waste a talent for imagination by spending all your time daydreaming, of all things. If only you were judged in your adult life by the same criteria as you where when you were seven - then you'd be *perfect*. :)
